“10 day eating CLEAN & LEAN Challenge” Food Log: Day 5

August 26, 2011

Diet Challenges, Nutrition

What I ate on Day 5 of the “10 day eating CLEAN & LEAN Challenge“.

  • Peanut butter & banana oatmeal
  • 1 cup of coffee
  • 2 slices  of homemade veggie pizza with a side of fresh tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette
  • 2 cups of grapes (our first batch straight from the vineyard)
  • 1 1/2 slice of homemade banana/cherry & walnut bread/cake
  • 1 more slice of homemade veggie pizza

As you might have noticed, I had a little more starch that usual today (pizza, bread, rolled oats). It’s important to know that we are only human, and that it’s ok to slip here and there, as I already mentioned, it’s not about being perfect 24/7. If we keep expecting perfection, we might get discouraged and fail to reach our full potential.

Quote of the day

“Striving for Excellence Motivates you; striving for Perfection is Demoralizing” - Harriet Braiker.

Enjoy your day folks :)

Eating this way always helps me slim down and get rid of extra fat. Did you do a 10 day slim down? What is your training like?

I am starting a 10 day right now. I will do 5 miles on the treadmill (walk/run in 1 hour). If I have time, I would love to do yoga, as I feel it is important for my stress level, but not sure what is better on limited time…cardio, weights, or yoga?
My eating today…coffee (w creamer…not such a good start!), nectarine, green juice(cucumber, celery and apple), greek yogurt “dressing” with sliced apple, grapes, pecans, flax and chia seeds and coconut, dinner is chicken flauta(roasted chicken, jack cheese, veggies on wheat tortilla.) Advice appreciated!

Sounds like a great start Amy!
You can alternate between yoga and weights since you are already doing cardio…
I also suggest you try out HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), these super short & intense workouts (10-15min.) can fit in anywhere and really help in burning that stubborn fat.
You can check out my WORKOUT LOGS (in the menu above) to get a basic idea of what a HIIT session looks like, you can also find many helpful websites to get more ideas and routine!
Hope this helps a little, let me know if you have any more questions!

Wow, thank you Isabella! You are the first person on blogs to reply so fast. I appreciate the encouragement. It’s not a ton to lose, but it’s making me crazy! I will do the HIIT tonight while watching tv maybe! Thanks so much for your help.

            You go girl!!!

          • amy Says:

you are awesome! I did a HIIT and some weights, ate super clean, and drank about 100 oz of water. No creamer tomorrow and super clean again…40 minute run outside to get going. 10 pounds will be gone!!!! you don’t know how much your encouragement means. thank you so very much!

          • Isabella Says:

That’s the spirit!!! Keep it up Amy, you rock!!!
            Luv’ Isabella ;)

          • amy Says:

Down 3 pounds today! I’m feeling better…although SUPER sore from lunges! Very clean eating today and that feels GREAT! I’m doing the Tone It UP Beach Week to get exercise motivation this week, and your clean challenge to get me eating right. (I hope that doesn’t offend you that i’m doing other workouts for this week.) Thank you so much for your sweet notes! xo!

          • Isabella Says:

Wow! Congrats Amy!! Keep it up :)
Ps. Love the TIU girls, not offended at all ;)

          • amy Says:

Thanks, sweet Isabella! I am getting tired, and I ate some chocolate this afternoon (in a cookie and peanut butter ball!) Off to walk with my hubby. I’m down 4 pounds, and hope to be clean tomorrow, but you let me know that its all part of life. Hope you are great! I certainly feel better…6 more to go!
            xo!

          • Isabella Says:

Hope you’ve enjoyed that chocolate :) I suggest you take two days and eat more carbs and calories still keeping it clean. This way, you are telling your body that you are getting sufficient energy so that it doesn’t go into starvation mode and hold on to that fat (and just to keep your mind sane as well). After those two days, continue your 10 day slim down and repeat if you feel really low in energy and start getting more cravings! I also suggest you have a daily treat… it should be something healthy but very satisfying! Check out some of my recipes in the yummy stuff (menu). Keep rockin’ it girl ;)
p.s. The goal is not to loose as much weight as possible in 10 days, just keep eating clean and working out, with the occasional treat, you will feel amazing! You don’t want to loose water and muscle mass, give yourself a whole month to lose that last 10 pounds of fat, trust me!
