As a personal trainer, I work with women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. While fitness and support at the gym are what they initially come to me for, most of them are really surprised when we start off our conversations about diet.
The first step is making sure that they fix some of the most common dietary mistakes, but even with a perfectly balanced diet, you can still struggle with a lot of nutrients. And the more you exercise, the more you need to consider women's health supplements.
No, I’m talking about protein and fat burners.
I always start with vitamins and minerals. These are essential for your immune system, heart health, eyes, muscle function, and of course, to get you through that time of the month.
And the healthier your core body functions are, the more likely you are to succeed with your weight loss and fitness goals.
Now, before you rush to your nearest drug store and pick the first pack of multivitamins at the lowest price, take advantage of several months’ worth of research I did with my own dietician to come up with a list of the best multivitamins for women.

1. Performance Lab Whole-Food Multi (Best Overall)
It actually didn’t take all that much debate with my dietitian to put this in the top spot of the best multivitamins for women.
Between online reviews and looking at the actual label for the sources of dozens of nutrients, I knew I was onto something good.
Based entirely on whole foods, it has been especially formulated for women of all ages. And after reading a few hundred reviews, I saw a lot of comments that it achieves an overall health boost, increased energy, and better hormonal balances.
Pros
CONS
You will either need to get into the habit of taking 1 of these with every meal, or else set a reminder on your phone, as you’ll need to take 4 of them daily. However, this does come with the bonus of probiotics for digestive health throughout the day.
2. Garden Of Life Multivitamin For Women
Another good multivitamin for women is this Garden of Life option.
The makers took the dietary guidelines for women and then specifically formulated their combination of minerals and vitamins, including some iron for that time of the month.
But it also provides probiotics to balance your gut flora, which can go a long way towards improving your overall health.
There are countless positive online reviews, and a lot of my clients have been using this company’s supplements with great success.
Pros
CONS
But for optimum results, you’ll need to remember to take it 4 times daily.
3. Women’s Ultra Mega 50 Plus
Throughout our lives, our body’s change significantly with puberty and the menopause bringing the biggest changes. This option has been created for post-menopausal women, and it does a pretty good job, based on all the reviews.
First of all, it has a lot of calcium compared to other options, which helps to improve bone density as you age.
Secondly, it has been formulated not just to support your immune system, but your brain, heart, and skin appearance as well.
Pros
CONS
You can also benefit from some antioxidants, which isn’t a bad thing at any stage of life. Just keep in mind that you may want to break the tablets in half as they are quite large.
4. MegaFood Once Daily
I’m usually a bit suspicious of brand names like this, but this one actually does a rather good job, and it’s one of the women's vitamins with iron that I recommend.
It also provides 100% of your folate needs, which can be important for women who are trying to get pregnant.
If you didn’t like the fact that the above products are provided in multiple capsules, then this once a day option is a good alternative. And you don’t even need to take it before eating.
Pros
CONS
The only thing I’m missing to put this higher up on the list of best women's multivitamin is that it doesn’t contain calcium or magnesium.
5. Rainbow Light One
Despite not being the top rated women's multivitamin on Amazon, Rainbow Light does have a very large number of positive reviews and has featured on a few bestseller lists.
One thing that stood out for me is that many women reviewed it positively for digestive support, which can also help with weight loss goals.
It has an impressive list of minerals, and while the dose of iron is moderate, this does have the advantage that you only need one pill that doesn’t have to be taken when you’re eating.
Pros
CONS
It claims to help you build up more energy, but I have to mention that some of the vitamins are not naturally sourced, which can mean they are more difficult to absorb.
6. VitaCraves One A Day Multivitamin Gummies
So, we’ve covered quite a few of the best women's multivitamin products, but what about girls and adolescent women? It can be difficult to adjust an adult dose to children, and that’s what VitaCraves claims to have solved.
The formula is specifically designed to give girls and young women what their body needs to develop at this critical time.
Many parents have commented online that it also helps to improve energy levels as well, which can help a lot during puberty.
Pros
CONS
The only thing I’m missing here is more B12 and iron to help young women through their starting menstruation. Overall though, if you’re a parent, this is going to be a pretty good choice to make.
7. Optimum Nutrition Opti-Women Daily Multivitamin
While it does have some synthetic ingredients, I do like that the list of covered nutrients is one of the longest I could find.
It also has the highest dose of folic acid, which could be important to women who are trying to get pregnant.
After reading through a few hundred reviews, I did find that a lot of women commented that it was the best multivitamin for active female athletes as it helped to increase energy levels.
One downside with this product is that you should start taking just one with food as the high dose of iron could cause stomach cramps.
You can watch more about this supplement here:
Pros
CONS
Once you get the timing right, you can increase it to 2 capsules.
8. NUZEST Good Green Stuff
The next one of my top multivitamins for women's health is Nuzest, and again, it’s a product that uses natural ingredients. The claim is that this makes it a lot easier for you to absorb all the nutritional benefits.
This particular one comes in a powder form, which you can either mix into a shake or just add to your food or a smoothie.
And as a vegan option with no allergens, this will suit pretty much all women.
Pros
CONS
The only downside I found is that there’s no folic acid, which you may need to take as a separate product if you’re trying to get pregnant.
What Vitamins And Minerals Does A Woman Need Daily?
While your body will need dozens of key nutrients on a consistent basis, there are a few more important ones that are often neglected.
And before you choose among all the marketing noise surrounding the best supplements for women's health, take a moment to check the label for the following:
These are the main vitamins we recommend you look for, however, there are some other nutrients you can also look out for to take your health to the next level:
Calcium and vitamin D work together to protect your bones—calcium helps build and maintain bones, while vitamin D helps your body effectively absorb calcium.
