What Is The Noom Diet And What Can I Eat?

The Noom diet, like any successful diet plan such as Weight Watchers or Myfitnesspal, works by logging your food intake and measuring the calories against any exercise done to put you in a caloric deficit.

This means you can start losing weight by burning through your stored reserves, so long as your honest and diligent with logging all the food you eat.

It is not militantly strict and understands that we all have favorite snacks and treats that might be a little on the naughty side and higher in calories.

By using a color-coding system, the app aims to offset any problematic habits by knuckling down at other meals or by portion control.

In addition to this, the premium subscription service also includes access to a health coach, dietitian, and other professionals to give you the support and motivation you need.

The foods that the Noom database has flagged as yellow are a little more calorie-dense than the green and should be treated a bit more sparingly.

Noom Before And After

The focus for the Noom app and diet is eating healthy and allowing its users to maintain a relationship with nutrition rich food that will continue even after they've achieved their target weight. It's expert advice, articles, and even the basic functionality of its food tracking feature are all geared towards this goal.

After four months on Noom, I'm down 15 pounds! Not as fast as I would have liked, but I do realize that slow and steady wins the race. I didn't do anything radical aside from read the Noom articles, log my food, work out, and pay attention to my daily calorie budget.

Before using the app, a typical breakfast might be a boiled egg, peanut butter on a slice of white bread, a glass of fruit juice, and a piece of fresh fruit.

During the logging process, instantly, the peanut butter, fruit juice, and white bread would flag up as red. This would make them targets for either cutting out or substitution.

An easy fix would be to ditch the fruit juice, bread, and peanut butter and choose to have a bowl of oatmeal instead. Otherwise, you could replace them with yellow or green alternatives such as whole grain bread, smashed avocado, and an almond milk smoothie.

In this regard, Noom helps to introduce you to healthy recipes that work out as delicious as they are nutritious.

Laura Lynn is a blogger and YouTuber who completed the program. Her typical day was entirely red before logging and evened out much healthier after. Watch this video for her take on the diet.
