I keep saying to my friends that exercise and weight loss don’t have to be things that aren’t fun. You can absolutely make your time at the gym or in fitness classes more fun with music or by going with friends.
But you can have even more fun at home in bed with your partner by introducing a bit more of a sex workout that challenges you physically. Not only can your intimate time become more of an intense workout that burns calories, but it can spice up your sex life and relationship that bit more as well.
So, after perusing the Kama Sutra and doing some research of my own I’ve decided to put together a guide that you can all try at home to get in some extra belly fat burning time.
I would strongly suggest that you try and remember this order as they haven’t been randomly listed. You will start with some warming up positions and then gradually move into positions that become more difficult and challenging.
You might know some of these as different names of sex positions, but the actual moves will be the same.
1. Missionary (Take Turns On Top)
OK, let’s start easy with a bit of warming up to get the blood flowing and energy going.
You’d be surprised how beneficial this position is for your core muscles, but it is important to switch with your partner so that you have the woman on top for part of the warm-up phase.
Take your time and enjoy this initial phase of intimacy; it’s soon going to get a bit more interesting. It's one of the most common sex positions but definitely the most fun.
2. Scissors
From the missionary positions, it’s quite easy to move into scissors position, but it will take a little bit of flexibility and practice.
This position will start challenging your upper body and thighs a bit more, and you should feel that it’s more like workout sex now.
You will also have to hold balance on your hands which will start putting some extra pressure on your arms.
Your upper body will definitely be in the works here which will eventually improve your core strength.
3. Lotus
Lotus might look like an easy position, but there is a bit of work involved. You can easily switch into this with the woman sitting on the man’s thighs with her legs wrapped around him.
It’s not so difficult to get into this position, but there’s a bit of work involved now to get into a rhythm and motion.
For the woman, it will target thighs, abs, and glutes at the same time. If you can keep this one going for a while, you’ll be doing quite a body workout with your partner.
4. Doggy Style
Some opinion polls actually suggest that doggy style is one of the most popular positions for both women and men. We can say that this position is a crowd favorite too. (1)
It certainly seems to target the sensations, but it can also be one of the positions to heat up the exercise routine a bit more.
Switching from Lotus to doggy style is easy and will give you a little bit of a break for the core muscles to relax. It’s still going to work the quads and butt muscles enough to feel like it’s a workout.
5. Cowgirl
From doggy style, you can easily switch to reverse or front facing cowgirl. This is very much a favorite for a lot of women as it gives them full command of their body and sexual experience.
You have full control of the motion, and if you do it right, you can engage a lot of muscle groups. It predominantly targets the lower abs and pelvic muscles, but you will also start feeling it in your calves if you try and get more traction with your feet.
Definitely switch it around from front to reverse, as it can stimulate very differently as well.
If you're feeling a little nervous about being on top, lean forward so your closer to your partner and you can use your arms to brace yourself. Not only does it give you the feeling of security, you can then use them to help move up and down, grind, whatever you like. You can even lie down in the modified position to feel extra secure.

6. Squatting Cowgirl
Now we’re going to start getting into some really good sex positions that will target your leg muscles and can build up a lot more strength.
Basically, it’s the same as cowgirl, but rather than using your knees to support your weight, you will be in a low squatting position.
At first, you’ll probably need some help with balance until your legs get used to it, in the beginning, you can lean forward a little and place your hands on your partners chest gently for extra support.
The longer you can keep this position going, the more you will feel it in your calves, thighs, quads, glutes, and even abs.
7. Bridge
The bridge position is one of the best exercises for sex as it will target muscles from your arms to your legs. If you do yoga, then you may be used to some similar moves, but you don’t have to take it to the same extremes. (2)
Basically, the woman will support herself with her arms and legs, raising her hips in the air to form a bridge.
Now, your partner can help support your hips, but the more you rely on your own body strength, the more this will become a workout for your arm and core muscles.
8. Arch
From the bridge position, the woman will relax her arms for a while and transfer the weight to the shoulders. This focuses a lot more effort and work on the legs, as the body should go into an arch shape.
For a lot of women, this is one of the more interesting sex positions, because they still have the freedom to move and adjust their pelvis to change angles and achieve more stimulation.
It also relaxes the arm muscles a bit more in preparation for the next position.
9. Wheelbarrow
This is one of the highest calorie burning positions, and the longer you can keep it going, the more of a gym-like exercise it will become. Master this, and you could even skip some time at the gym.
The woman will be supporting herself entirely on her arms, while the partner holds up her lower body. But the more weight the woman needs to hold, the more of an exercise this will become.
It’s kind of like an intense plank exercise that can become very pleasurable.
10. Standing
Finally, it’s time to give your arms a little bit of a break and move into a standing position. To get the most out of this, the woman should stand on one leg with the other wrapped around her partner.
It will require a bit of balance as well, but you can support yourself against a wall or table.
This position will directly target core and leg muscles and will require some stamina as well. It will all be about practice, and you won’t find any other exercises that are this much fun.
