The power of fresh fruits, veggies and herbs is truly amazing! There are tons of supplements and drinks out there now a days claiming to help you with your workout, but a lot of the ingredients are synthetic, hard to pronounce and barely recognizable! These two juicy recipes present an all natural solution, made from ingredients that are easily found in any grocery store!
Nature has us covered. Cheers!
Pre and Post Workout Juice RECIPES
First up, blast through your workout with a concentrated pre-workout shot!
The ingredients are simple yet powerful. Beets are high in natural nitrates that allow our muscles to use oxygen more efficiently which increases endurance. Carrots add in some much-needed antioxidant power (via the beta carotene and other phyto-nutrients) helping to protect us from exercise induced free radicals, and the optional addition of cayenne pepper enhances metabolism, allowing you to burn more fat. In addition, the natural sugars from both the carrots and beets provide a nice energy boost. I’ve been taking these an hour before my workouts and the difference in terms of my endurance is amazing! I can run way longer and don’t feel like I’m gasping for air.
CONCENTRATED PRE-WORKOUT SHOTZ
This recipe will make about four 2oz shotz or enough for two workouts. I’ll usually take two shotz for one workout but one is good also.
Ingredients: 8 carrots, 2 beets OPTIONAL: Add 1/8 to 1/4 tsp cayenne to each shot.
Directions: Using a juice extractor, process the carrots and beets. Take two 2 oz shotz an hour before your workout. Store the other half for 24 hours max. Enjoy!
After all that sweating you’re definitely going to need to rehydrate. Don’t look towards those synthetic neon “sports drinks” though, look to the power of fresh juice! More specifically, look to my Hydr-Aid recipe! It’s easy to make, delicious and super hydrating. Why? Both cucumbers and celery are over 90% water and contain several electrolytes to help restore the body’s cells. Lemons contain four out of six electrolytes and pear, in addition to providing a hint of sweetness, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits that together, reduce muscle soreness, inflammation and oxidative stress.
HYDR-AID
Ingredients: 1/2 a lemon, 2 pears,4 celery stalks and 2 cucumbers. Directions: Using a juice extractor, process all of the ingredients. Pour into a beautiful glass and enjoy!
BIO: Chaud believes using nutrition as a preventative should be the main stream form of healthcare. Not pills, not surgeries, but natural methods people can use on a daily basis to keep themselves well with no ill side effects. When she really started researching juicing and it’s healing properties because of her aunts cancer diagnoses, she fell in love with it and just knew it was her calling. She saw the hope it brought to her aunt to be armed with information she could use daily to help herself get well and wanted to share that same information with everyone. Chaud believes living the JuiceLife is one of those natural methods that if used on a daily basis can bring long-term health and wellness. Not to mention, fresh juice is absolutely delicious. It’s a win win!
