You don’t have to get pregnant to get stretch marks. This is something I found out early after struggling with my weight from puberty and starting my fitness journey.
Puberty and gaining weight are some of the primary causes of stretch marks on the inner thighs, after all. The same goes for gaining muscle.
Over the years, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the stretch marks on my inner thighs — something I’m sure many women can relate to.
Thankfully, stretch marks on inner thighs are fairly easy to hide. But if you’re trying to clear them out, I’ve got your back, too. You don’t have to sink in thousands of dollars on medical treatments just yet.
I did my research, tried out several DIY options, and saw how simple, all-natural remedies can help clear stretch marks.
Here are six home remedies you can try for yourself.
Sugar
Sugar is my go-to home remedy in place of microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment for reducing stretch marks on the inner thighs. It is essentially an enhanced and high-tech way to exfoliate your skin. It can get fairly expensive, though.
Regularly exfoliating your thighs with a simple sugar scrub sloughs off the upper layer of the dead skin. This encourages new skin cell growth, which can help stretch marks fade away.
A sugar scrub recipe is easy to make and can be used daily. All you need is one cup of sugar, 1/4 cup oil, and a splash of lemon juice. Go for oils rich in moisturizing and other skin benefits, such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil to boost the effects of the scrub.
Coffee
Ground coffee beans are also great exfoliators and may help clear stretch marks. It works much the same way as sugar scrubs and shares nearly the same recipe. You can even make a scrub using both coffee grounds and brown sugar.
Its main difference from sugar scrubs is the benefits it offers. Coffee grounds contain traces of caffeic acid, an antioxidant that can help boost collagen production.
Higher collagen levels promote skin regeneration, which will help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Coffee is also known to reduce inflammation or puffiness and has anti-aging benefits.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is sometimes called the miracle plant — and for good reason. It has a wide range of medical benefits, including as a skin care treatment.
Aloe vera is a natural healing agent and an amazing moisturizer or skin softener. This makes it an ideal home remedy for stretch marks on the inner thighs.
The pure, natural gel from aloe vera plants also offers relief from itchiness. Daily use is necessary to get the most out of aloe vera’s skin benefits.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is perhaps one of the best natural carrier oils for treating stretch marks and other forms of skin damage. Findings suggest that coconut oil has healing properties and hastens the time our skin takes to heal wounds.
Coconut oil may help reduce inflammation, boosts our skin barrier function, and improve skin appearance. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties and encourages collagen production for faster stretch mark recovery.
Cocoa or Shea Butter
You can’t go wrong with using natural butters to ensure your thighs (and whole body) are sufficiently moisturized and hydrated.
Natural cocoa butter seeps deeper into our skin for greater moisturization. This helps soften stretch marks. Meanwhile, natural shea butter contains high amounts of vitamin A, which greatly improves skin elasticity.
Although cocoa or shea butter alone might not completely erase stretch marks on inner thighs, they can greatly diminish their appearance.
Egg Whites
Egg whites are rich in amino acids and protein. These allow egg whites to help regenerate stretched skin, even out skin tone, lighten stretch marks, and tighten the skin.
All you need to do is apply an egg white mask on your inner thigh stretch marks daily or at least a few times each week. Simply whisk the whites from two eggs until foamy and apply it to your skin.
Let it dry completely before rinsing. Remember to use olive oil or any rich moisturizer afterward.
Moisturize and Hydrate to Feel Great
Whether you’re trying to clear or prevent stretch marks, the main thing is always to keep the skin moisturized and properly hydrated every day. As long as you focus on that, you’ll slowly but surely see positive changes to the stretch marks on your inner thighs.
